Mary Fahey
Colusa Basin Watershed Coordinator
The Colusa County Resource Conservation District (CCRCD) is proud to announce that Mary Fahey has joined their staff as the new Colusa Basin Watershed Coordinator. Mary came on board in November, 2009.
Mary has lived in the town of Arbuckle in Colusa County for the past twelve years where she has been operating a small market farm growing a variety of seasonal produce for local delivery, and raising a menagerie of animals. Mary comes to the CCRCD with a great deal of enthusiasm for encouraging native habitat restoration, working on community outreach, and working to protect our natural resources with a focus on the Colusa Basin Watershed.
Mary has always held a desire for protecting the natural resources around us. Over the past nine years, she has participated in CCRCD and NRCS projects installing restoration practices on her own land. These projects have included installation of a native shrub hedgerow, planting a steep hillside in natives and planting native grasses along a streambank for erosion control. Mary’s land is currently part of CAFF’s Colusa County Almond Grower’s Project in partnership with the CCRCD.
Mary is committed to being actively involved in her community. As a board member of the Arbuckle Revitalization Committee, Mary started up and continues to manage the Arbuckle Certified Farmers Market, Colusa County’s first Certified Farmers Market. Mary regularly attends local functions, and has been involved in the early stages of Colusa County’s General Plan Update.
“I look forward to meeting and working with land owners in Colusa County, and learning more about the diversity of resources that our Watershed has to offer. It is exciting for me to be in a position where I can make a positive impact on the resources that Colusa County has to offer by planning and implementing restoration projects, and educating others in the process.”
