The Colusa County Resource Conservation District is working with CARCD on habitat restoration and carbon farm plan implementation. There are two categories to this grant: carbon farm planning as well as monarch and pollinator habitat restoration.
This grant includes implementation of a portion of the Davis Ranch Carbon Farm Plan which will restore sections of the Sycamore Slough off the Sacramento River that flows west toward the Colusa Basin Drain and Colusa Wildlife Refuge. The RCD will be providing an implementation design as well as habitat restoration supplies (irrigation, plants, tree tubes, etc.). Plant species selected will focus on pollinator and monarch among other larger species such as wood ducks, garter snakes, and other important riparian and wetland species. Another portion of the project is to use existing monarch and pollinator conservation plans to create habitat within an orchard system along the west side of the valley floor.
