California Department of Food & Agriculture - Pollinator Habitat Program
The Pollinator Habitat Program aims to provide funding to install habitats and implement management practices that support pollinators. These habitats help to promote biodiversity, promote pollinator populations and improve agricultural productivity.
Many pollinator populations are at a decline due to many factors including; habitat destruction, pesticide use, disease and climate change. Pollinators can include; bees, butterflies, and others species that play a critical role in the productivity of agricultural crops and the health of natural ecosystems.
Projects within the Pollinator Habitat Program can include; planting hedgerows, creating nesting sites, and using flowering cover crops. These projects enhance biodiversity, increase carbon sequestration, improve soil health, and support integrated pest management, which all support the efforts of sustainable agriculture.
